That’s the beautiful cover of Coral Gables News’ special edition this month commemorating the 90th birthday of “The City Beautiful”. The famous fountain on Country Club Prado at the north entrance of the Gables has been the spectacular back drop for thousands of wedding pictures and quinceneras in its history. My own wedding pictures were taken there, but more memorable for me were the hundreds of tadpoles my father helped me collect every Sunday if I behaved at church (I still associate Church of the Little Flower with tadpoles).
I love Coral Gables and am proud to have been born, educated, and working in such a vibrant and historical city. If we are a product of our environment then I would say the Coral Gables Youth Center, St. Theresa School, and Matheson Hammock were an enormous part of my upbringing!
I have two really special homes for sale that were featured in the 90th birthday edition: 3016 Alhambra Circle was built in 1926 – the same year Coral Gables was newly incorporated, the Biltmore Hotel had its inaugural ceremony, and the University of Miami enrolled its first class. How is that for history? Like the City it was created in, this regal, Old Spanish-style grand dame has gotten better!
181 Leucadendra Drive in Gables Estates is in a class of its own, and for that reason was selected by EWM Realty International to be the backdrop for its commemorative birthday ad! This magnificent Mediterranean estate, with 270′ of water frontage on Gables Estates premier lagoon, was built in 2004 and fuses old world craftsmanship, European charm, and 21st century panache. It is a very, very special property as photographer Jonah Gouin has captured. For more information or an appointment to either of these wonderful homes please contact me!
